What Is BIST Radar?

BIST Radar is a free tool that summarizes the overall market picture of Borsa Istanbul on a single page. It brings together the day’s biggest gainers and losers, a 21-day momentum scan of more than 600 stocks, sector-level momentum, valuation and volatility maps, and momentum-versus-valuation scatter charts.

The goal is to let you take the market’s pulse quickly, without hunting across scattered sources: which stocks stand out, which sectors are strengthening, is the market cheap or expensive, and where is volatility concentrated?

How the Momentum Scan Works

The radar builds a momentum ranking from each stock’s price return over the last 21 trading days. The strongest names are listed as "winners" and the weakest as "losers." Momentum is documented in the academic literature (Jegadeesh & Titman, 1993) as a factor that persists over the short term.

The sector momentum map applies the same logic at the sector level: each sector is colored by the average return of its constituents and sized by total market capitalization.

Valuation and Volatility Maps

The radar surfaces not only momentum but valuation and risk. Sector median earnings yield (E/P) shows which areas are relatively cheap or expensive, while the volatility map shows where price swings are concentrated. Reading these three dimensions together gives a more complete picture than price action alone.

How to Use the Radar

Use the radar as a starting point to scan the market quickly: identify standout stocks and strengthening sectors, then dig into the names you care about with the Stock Report Card. A stock on the winners list may have strong momentum, but check its valuation and fundamental scores before deciding.
